General Information and Care: Lycopodium squarrosum is classified with ferns, though it is not a true fern. They differ from ferns in their production of sporophytes. This species will do best mounted high up on the background and allowed to grow down. As it grows, it has long slender stems covered in needle like leaves. Typically in a terrarium these seem to branch after about 8â-1â of growth, though some may take several feet to branch. As they branch, eat growing point will split into two, and this will continue. At times they may also split into three. This species is best propagated through air layering, though sometimes just allowing it to grow on the ground it will root and create a new plant that can be cut off.
