General Information and Care: Dischidia astephana is one of a handful of ant plants that can be grown well in a terrarium. It is called an ant plant because in nature, ants would actually live under the leaves. The ant excrement is then used by the plant for nutrients to help it grow. This species does best mounted on the background and allowed to cascade down. As the leaves mature they really become extremely showy taking on a red to pink hue. Additionally they will begin to change in texture with small bumps becoming more prominent on the leaf surface.
