General Information and Care: Marcgravia sp. White Line is in our opinion one of the easier growing species, but also offers amazing coloration. The new growth on this species under higher light (as shown in the picture) can appear red to almost pink with amazing veination. As the leaves mature they get dark green with a beautiful bright white line down the middle as well as beautifully scalloped leaf edges! This species as with several others seems to branch very readily, allowing it to quickly fill in a background. This is also a miniature species making it a great option for a terrarium of any size! Overall a great species that we use in one of our personal terrariums and greatly enjoy.
As with all of the other Marcgravias that Glass Box Tropicals offers, this is considered to be a shingling type of plant. Shingling plants are vines that are prone to climb up towards the light. The leaves, many times, almost appear to form themselves to the surface that they are growing on. This is true whether it is your background or a piece of driftwood. Also, it should be noted that no Marcgravias seem to like water sitting on their leaves for long periods of time.
Marcgravias are found throughout Central and South America, as well as in the Caribbean. In their natural habitat, they are typically found growing up tree trunks in the rainforest. Before flowering, Marcgravias send out lateral branches with mature foliage (mature foliage differs from the typical foliage customers will see in their terrarium and in the pictures provided). It is these lateral branches that the plant will then bloom from.
*The coloration on the cutting you will receive may vary from the picture as not all cuttings will come from high light conditions.

Marcgravia White Line
Plant came in well-packed and looking bright and healthy despite a long USPS misdirection in winter. Be sure to read the description and view all images - this little plant is truly micro. Even smaller than I'd expected - which is perfect for filling in tiny spaces and adding visual interest.
