General Information and Care: Monolena primuliflora is an absolutely stunning species to grow and extremely rewarding. This species has amazing lancolate leaves that emerge bright red and slowly turn dark green as they mature. The venation adds quite a bit of interest to these leaves as do the stems that hold up the leaves which are typically bright red with some green markings.
As this species grows it will also form a beautiful caudex. It is thought that in nature, this species is home for certain species of ants. Additionally, this species when grown in a terrarium is typically grown terrestrially in order to provide enough room for the leaves, but in the wild it actually grows as an epiphyte.
This species should be provided amply moisture. If ample moisture is not provided, this species may go dormant. If this does happen, it will quickly come back to life once it has been well watered again.
