General Information and Care: Pleurothallis (Specklinia) costaricensis is one of the first orchids that we added to our collection from this Genus. It is one of the easier growing species from this Genus and seems to tolerate a wide array of conditions, including terrarium type conditions. This species has small leaves, about 1-2" in length and very narrow. This plant tends to have a trailing habit making it a great choice for backgrounds. Typically this Pleurothallis will bloom several times a year with bright yellow flowers that are quite eye catching in a terrarium. It is definitely best to grow this species epiphytically, though it should be mounted with a small bit of long fiber New Zealand sphagnum moss.
