General Information and Care: Begonia dracopelta is a beautiful flowering speceis native to Indonesia. It was discovered growing on stone walls typically under water falls in extremely high humidity areas.
The plant has distinct bullate leaves with dark black-brown bumps that can show some iridescence. Additionally, the leaves come out maroon and turn green as they mature.
It generally prefer medium light to keep the best color and high humidty which is easily provided inside of a terrarium.
Interestingly, the name dracopelta is a compound of draco (Latin – dragon) and pelté (Latin – shield). The leaves resemble the skin of the earless monitor lizard (Lanthanotus borneensis)
