The ABG (Atlanta Botanical Gardens) terrarium substrate that Glass Box Tropicals offers is specifically designed to be used in wet and humid environments such as poison dart frog terrariums. Each bag contains finely ground tree fern fiber, milled long fiber sphagnum moss, milled sphagnum peat moss, fine charcoal and fine fir bark. Each bag is made individually guaranteeing the correct ratios. This precise combination allows for excellent moisture retention and superb drainage leading to a substrate that will not easily become compacted or anaerobic in terrarium conditions.
ABG needs to be moistened before it is placed in a terrarium. The bag should be emptied into a container and have water mixed into the substrate mix until it is evenly moistened.
Typically when used in terrariums, one to two inches of substrate is adequate for most microfauna and plants. You may want to use additional substrate to build your landscape and hardscape, but it is not required for good plant growth or success with most microfauna.
This is for 1 gallon of substrate.
This is the best ABG mix I have found. They use exactly what's supposed to be in real ABG mix. This is the only place I get my ABG from.
Top quality stuff as always. I bought four. You should buy direct from GBT instead of Amazon so they get a greater portion of the proceeds. Cheers, Josh
